Today as I’m planning for our upcoming family travels, I feel glad I’m not pregnant or have a newborn to take care of. For some reason this sounds like a radical statement but it’s really not. Because after giving selflessly to my 4 children for many years, I’m ready to mother myself too. ⁣

As someone who gave up a lot to motherhood, from age 23 to be exact, I always felt like my own life needed to be lived too. Unlike many others who travel, climb up the corporate ladder or find that special person when they feel ready, I let God show me which path to take. It was complete surrender not because I’m brave, but because I felt it was the right decision at the time.⁣

In retrospect, I missed out on a lot- my entire 20’s of self-discovery and play- which added to the weight of my own life. I had to mother others before I can mother myself and give more to my family before I knew how to care for myself.⁣
⁣
I’m reaching a new season of motherhood where I can begin to think about what I want too. ⁣
⁣
And this is a beautiful place of endless possibilities and hope. It excites me in a whole new way, and I like it here. ⁣

Our family room got a spring refresh! I finally decided to give up the white couch fantasy to this Gabriel Chaise sectional and Daybed from @Sixpennyhome.
The constant cleaning of the white couches with kids & dogs was stressing me out and I was ready for a change.
This color is called Nectarine Dream and the perfect neutral that won’t show every stain. The cotton linen fabric holds up nicely too! #gifted

Social media is now a daily part of our lives and our teens +13 are using them to connect with their friends. It’s also a powerful tool for building community and finding like-minded peers.⁣
