“If you don’t have rupture at home, you’re not with them.” ⁣

When I heard these words by @mlparentcoach, I felt seen. I’ve been experiencing rupture at home with all my kids from my teenagers to my 4 year old and parenting has been HARD.
⁣
But instead of feeling guilt, we need to remember that rupture is normal during this time, especially when everyone has been home for over 6 months without personal space or usual social & educational activities. ⁣
⁣

So much of motherhood happens behind closed doors, away from the eyes of our partners, family and friends.⁣
⁣
The hardest motherhood moments happen during the day when our toddlers are kicking and screaming due to something ridiculous we can’t even remember, before bedtime when we are struggling to get them washed up and into their bed, at 2 am when we’re trying to latch, wean or simply survive the sheer exhaustion we feel deep inside our bodies and souls. ⁣
⁣
Motherhood never gets easier but it’s always worthwhile. I repeat this, over and over again, because this is the plain and simple truth that keeps us moving even during times of desperation. ⁣
⁣
In between the smiles, the cries, the tantrums, the injuries, the fevers and the chaos- somewhere in between all these things- lies the tiny spark that keeps burning.⁣
⁣
Call it a mother’s love, the grace of God, the divine feminine, or the source itself. ⁣
⁣
Call it whatever you want, because it’s not about the language. It’s about the spark, the tiny spark that gets us through each stage, each child, each milestone, each year…⁣
⁣
Until one day we realize our heart have expanded a thousand times and we have survived another hard thing. Then another. Then another.⁣
⁣
The spark is never extinguished. It just keeps burning. ⁣
⁣
This is the magic of motherhood.
