Enjoying The Little Things

Ivory-sponsored

March has been a busy month. We celebrated my younger brother’s wedding. My parents and family are visiting from out of town and there’s been lots of events to host and tables to clean.

Life with three kids is not easy but more manageable when we let go of perfection. Once I let go of trying to do everything perfectly and began to find joy in the little things, motherhood became less stressful and more fun.

Today I have more kids and dogs than I did before but I’m managing my household and life more efficiently. Other moms often ask me how I manage to do it all with blog work, three kids and two dogs. My answer? I don’t.

Instead of trying to “do it all,” I prioritize and just “do what I can.” This distinction is so important because striving unattainable standards is the fastest way to motherhood and career burn out. It also leads to stressed out parents and unhappy kids.

No matter where you’re at in your career and motherhood, here are some important reminders that’ll help you to enjoy life more.

1. Less is more

Don’t consume your life with more things. Learn to be content with less. Kids don’t need so many toys; allow them to be creative with what they have. Empty boxes, some paper and crayon goes a long way for creative minds with little hands. You don’t need so many clothes each season, a few staple items are enough.

2. Let go of perfection

The sooner you let go of perfection, the happier you’ll be. I tried for many years to be the perfect mom I thought others expected me to be which left me feeling inadequate and depressed. Looking back I simply needed to shift my perspective to know I am always good enough, even though I may not be perfect.

3. Reduce clutter

Holding onto things that you don’t need only creates more clutter, mess and chaos. If you haven’t used something for over a year, chances are you won’t need it. If you have trouble letting go of certain things due to its sentimental value, think about how much more useful it can be for the next person.

Remove old, unwanted energy to make room for the new. You’ll be surprised at what the universe has in store for you.

4. Enjoy the little things

Daily motherhood chores like cooking, cleaning and bathing used to drain me when my daughters were younger. Now that my girls are old enough to bathe themselves, I realize how precious these little moments are, especially bath time with my baby.

I recently switched our bath products to Ivory for the whole family and we’re loving the products! They are soft, gentle and pure just like they were many generations ago.

The Ivory Free & Gentle Body Wash with Pear & Sandalwood is formulated to cleanse and nourish skin with the fresh scent of pear and sandalwood. The body wash contains the #1 Dermatologist-Recommended moisturizing ingredient.

I also love using the Ivory Original Body Wash to bathe my son. It’s free of dyes and heavy perfumes and smells so good, bringing me back to my own childhood. The Ivory Original 3-bar is the same pure soap with a new look offering a pure clean. I love how Ivory has been trusted for 138 years.

Next time you’re looking for bath products for your family, be sure to give Ivory a try. You’ll love its new vintage-inspired packaging with the same trusted ingredients.
