For the most part, I really enjoy everything about the winter season. From the holidays to the mild Orange County weather, what’s not to love? But while I might not spend as much time in the snow as a lot of you ladies, I know how important the right pair of boots are in the winter. Some fun winter boots are the perfect way to not only stay warm when the temperatures drop, but also feel chic and stylish all year round.
There are a bunch of ways to style boots for these cooler winter months, so today I’m sharing some of my favorite winter outfit ideas to wear with boots!
5 Winter Outfits With Boots
Crop Pants + Ankle Boots
When I want to look a little more put together on a colder day, I reach for a sleek pair of ankle boots and pair them with chic crop pants, like these wideleg pleated trousers from Mango. Marc Fisher has a fantastic collection of black leather ankle boots at Nordstrom, like these with a block heel that are easier to manage in the snow. Better yet, you can swap these boots for a snow-ready pair, like the Sam Edelman Chelsea Boots (more on those below). Then, add a simple black sweater or knit top for an office-ready outfit, or one of your dressier winter blouses.
Chunky Knit + Slip Skirt + Knee High Boots
Another option that can double as a casual winter outfit as well as a dressier one is to pair knee-high boots, or a waterproof pair of riding boots, with a chunky knit and either a full-length or midi skirt. Like, for me, I’d pair this chunky knit pullover in a chic off-white color with this gorgeous mid-length slip skirt.
And for the boots, I like the Layne Waterproof Over-the-Knee Boot from Blondo. I linked another pair of waterproof boots from Blondo below. Either one would work great with this look!
Cropped Jacket + Trousers + Chelsea Boots
I will happily wear a denim jacket anytime, anywhere, so naturally I had to put together a winter boots outfit featuring one of my favorites, a cropped denim jacket from Unnishop (a good alternative is this denim jacket from Free People).
We have several fantastic pants that would work great for this look, like these wide-leg pants, but any wide-leg or straight-leg trousers would do! Then, for the boots, the Blundstone Original Chelsea Boots are a must-have for winter.
Black Pants + Knee-High Boots
This one is for all of you who are still rocking your skinny jeans (you go girl!), and if not, it works just as well with some regular black or faux leather leggings. The Blondo Women’s Waterproof Sierra Over-The-Knee Boots are perfect for wearing with slim or skinny bottoms. And here’s the best part: you can wear this combo with pretty much any winter top in your wardrobe, giving you endless options on a cold winter day.
Monochromatic Sweater Dress + Snow Boots
Finally, for a trendy monochromatic look with snow boots, I picked this ribbed knit dress in ‘Ecru’ to wear with the SOREL Tivoli V Faux Shearling Waterproof Boot. Not only is this a super warm outfit, but it can be dressed up or down for any occasion, depending on the outerwear you style it with.
What Are The Best Winter Boots?
Columbia Women’s Ice Maiden II
Columbia is a well-known brand in winter wear, so it’s no surprise that they make what I think are the best snow boots. The Ice Maiden II boots are waterproof, yet surprisingly lightweight, and feature a thick yet flexible lug sole. I especially like that you can lace them up for the perfect fit. And believe me, these boots will definitely keep you warm.
Blondo Women’s Waterproof Sierra Over-The-Knee Boot
On the more fashionable side, the Sierra Over-the-Knee Boot from Blondo is my pick for the best tall boots to wear in the winter. These suede boots are super stylish, and feature a rubber sole so you have plenty of traction when walking across snow and ice. Whether you’re wearing a skirt or skinny pants, these boots naturally elevate your whole look.
SOREL Tivoli V Faux Shearling Waterproof Boot
The Tivoli V Faux Shearling boots are a prime example of how cute waterproof boots have become! You can grab them in white, tan, or black, ensuring you have a great pair of super warm, waterproof snow boots to wear when Old Man Winter makes his arrival, no matter your color palette.
Blundstone Original Chelsea Boots
I linked these above, but they’re worth mentioning time and time again. They are easily one of the best Chelsea boots to wear in the winter. For leather boots, these are surprisingly warm and legitimately waterproof, so all you need is a good pair of socks when heading out to face the cold.
Sam Edelman Cooper Boots
Finally, the Sam Edelman Cooper Boots are my favorite ankle boots to wear as soon as the temperature drops. They’re the perfect blend of combat boots and sleek ankle boots, providing extra coverage when Chelsea boots aren’t quite high enough to protect your ankles from the cold.
