Be Sunscreen Ready All Year Long

australian-gold-sponsored

I can’t believe summer is already coming to an end and Labor Day is right around the corner. Kids are returning to school one by one and a new school year and schedules are starting for many families.

So how was your summer?

sun protection tips

We had an amazing summer vacation and spent most of our days hanging out, swimming, traveling and enjoying the beach. The highlight of summer was our summer trip to Maui where we got to lay out by the beach in Wailea, see the sunrise in Hana and snorkel in Molokini Island.

Traveling as a family of five is full of hectic moments and unforeseen circumstances, but there’s one thing I never forget- protecting my family’s skin from the sun.

sun protection tips for the family

Sun protection is not only important during summer but all year round. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, affecting 1 in 5 Americans in their lifetime. Melanoma is the second most common form of cancer in women ages 15-29.

As you can see, sun protection is important for anyone, regardless of age and skin tone.

sun protection tips with Australian Gold Sunscreen

Here are important sun protection tips for this summer and beyond

1.Use Broad spectrum sunscreen

Look for broad-spectrum sunscreen, which means it protects against UVA and UVB radiation rays. UVA rays cause premature aging, wrinkles and damage that can lead to skin cancer. UVB can cause your skin to burn.

2. Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before sun exposure and reapply

You should apply sunscreen 30 minutes before sun exposure and reapply depending on your activity, at least once every 2 hours. When visualizing how much sunscreen to apply to your skin, picture the appropriate amount as a golf ball (approximately 1 ounce).

3. Don’t forget hats, rash guards, sunglasses and other sun protection tools

Don’t rely on sunscreen alone. While sunscreen can be helpful, you should also use additional sun protection tools such as hats, rash guards, cover ups and sunglasses any time you are spending time under the sun. Also try to stay in a shaded area when the sun is harsh especially during the afternoon time.

4. Use Australian Gold bronzer sunscreen for that extra glow

A healthy summer glow isn’t just for summer, you can boast it all year long! I’ve been using Australian Gold bronzer sunscreen all summer and love it. It goes on smoothly, smells light and fresh like coconut and absorbs well into the skin. Unlike other bronzing products, Australian Gold bronzer sunscreen goes on clear without transference of color to the swimsuit or towel.

So the next time you’re out in the sun, be sure to protect your skin from the harsh UV rays of the sun not only during summer but all year round!
