Mommy Daughter Date At Disney On Ice

It’s been awhile since I spent one-on-one time with my middle daughter Tess. Even though she loves her baby brother dearly and never complains about all the love and attention he is getting from the rest of the family, I can tell she is entering another stage in her life where she needs her mama more than ever.

So I was excited when I came across the opportunity to attend Disney On Ice: World of Enchantment at Staples Center on opening night. Instead of taking the whole family and the baby, I decided to make this event more special by hosting a mommy-daughter date with Tess and allowing her to invite two of her friends.

Before the event, we got to attend a private meet-and-greet with Mickey and Minnie. The girls were excited and ready to greet them with their own Minnie mouse ears. Can you tell we’re huge Disney fans? 🙂

Meet and greet with Minnie and Mickey

After the Meet-and-greet with Mickey and Minnie and meeting new friends, we sat down waiting for the show to start while eating “dinner” that consisted of delicious hot dogs, nachos, pretzels and snow cones in light up cups. It was a rare treat for this little one and her silly expression says it all.

These cups are available for purchase at $15 each. You can also purchase cotton candy, popcorn and light up sticks from the convenience of your seats. Kids loved these treats and enjoyed the snow cone to the last drop.

Disney Souvenirs + Gifts

There are so many adorable Disney licensed souvenirs and gifts available for kids of all ages. I loved the wide variety of products and how each item was clearly marked with price.

Disney On Ice: The Program

This was my second time watching Disney On Ice since 4 years ago and I’m glad the program had changed since then because it was an entirely new experience. This time the show featured our favorite Disney characters from Toy Story 3, Little Mermaid, Cars and Frozen.

Part 1: Toy Story 3

The Toy Story performance is visually stunning, funny and exciting with its different characters dancing and singing on ice. Buzz Light Year, Woody and Jessie are great and I especially liked the performance by Barbie and Ken. It was unexpected and really cute. The storyline that takes place at Sunnyside Daycare is imaginative, relatable and interesting, and I have no doubt you and your children will enjoy it with tons of laughter.

This was one of my little guest’s favorite part of the show.

And of course, you can’t forget about the cool toy soldiers!

Part 2: Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid performance brings this classic tale to life with rich characters and stunning backdrop and special effects. Sebastian performs his hilarious (and loyal) antics to save Ariel from the grips of evil Ursula and Flounder is adorable as ever on ice. You have to see him in person!

The Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney story and this show did not disappoint, especially Ariel’s solo performance for “Part of the World.”

Part 3: Cars

My daughters love the Cars ride at Disneyland and this show was a huge hit even amongst the girls. The cars skid, spin and race around the stage for a fun, energy-charged performance. Expect cool special effects and speed during the performance!

Part 4: Frozen

Frozen was the highlight of the four part performance. When this movie came out a few years ago both my daughters and all their friends went Frozen crazy, singing their songs, watching the movie repeatedly and copying their wardrobe from head to toe.

Both girls and boys loved watching their favorite Frozen characters dancing and singing on ice and when Olaf came on stage, the whole crowd started cheering. Olaf is so cute and friendly just like the movie and he put on a great show!

Queen Elsa and her sister Ana were stunning and the show captured the original story line really well with great skating, singing and special effects that includes lights and faux snow. The wintery stage design juxtaposed with the flawless ice skating made everything look magical, just like the movie. When Elsa sang “Let it go” everyone followed along, even the moms (and some dads)!

The show concluded with all the characters on stage but you have to go see the show in person to know how it all plays out! 😉

Rainy and cold but all in smiles

Overall Disney On Ice: World Of Enchantment is a must-see performance that the whole family will enjoy this holiday season. It’s visually stunning, narratively interesting and full of energy, fun and talent. Whether you have a toddler or school aged children, there’s something for everyone.
